South Coast Paper Celebrates Anniversary

December marks the third year anniversary of South Coast Paper opening the doors of its facility in Maplesville.
The paper converting operation relocated to Maplesville after being
displaced by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. “Our relocation to Maplesville
has been a win-win situation,” said South Coast Paper Managing Partner,
Paul Mitchell. “We are proud to be able to offer employment
opportunities to citizens of Maplesville, and in turn our employees have
proven to be top notch—hard working and dedicated to helping us run a
world class operation.”
In a little over a year, South Coast Paper will celebrate another
milestone. “It is amazing how time has flown by,” said South Coast
Paper President, Kenny Loyd. “March 2010 will be our ten year
anniversary of being in business. We look forward to celebrating that
anniversary with Maplesville in a big way!”
The move from its facility in Hammond, La., to Maplesville has nearly
doubled the company’s capacity in terms of staffing, production and
warehousing. Before year end, South Coast Paper will supply an excess
of 60,000 tons of paper. Three years after opening its doors, South
Coast Paper has approximately fifty employees, nearly double the amount
when it first moved to Maplesville.
“We have been very fortunate. The move to Maplesville has proven to
be good for our company,” said Loyd. “This facility has provided us the
opportunity to physically grow our company, while we continue to expand
our line of products and services.”
South Coast Paper recently collaborated with Boise Inc., on a product
line called ASPEN® Diverse Earth that offers premium recycled office
paper, combined with a practical solution to meet environmental and
supplier diversity goals. http://www.diverseearthpaper.com.
“We are constantly looking for ways to continue to grow. We work
hard to produce quality products while doing our part to be
environmentally aware,” said Plant Manager Dale Enfinger.
“Maplesville is now home for South Coast Paper, and we relish the
opportunities to share with the community about our company. Many of us
South Coast Paper employees eat lunch at the Maplesville Florist and
Bake Shop on Hwy 139. Next time you see us in there be sure to pull up a
chair, we would love to tell you more about what we do,” said Enfinger.
